St. Demetrios Philoptochos Society

Love and Service to Church and Community

The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society is an organization unique to the Greek Orthodox Church.  It is the largest women’s organization in the United States and the second largest philanthropic organization in the world.  Each Greek Orthodox Church has a Philoptochos chapter that contributes to charities and responds to disasters on local, national and even international levels.  For over 35 years our St. Demetrios Philoptochos has been able to assist the poor, victims of disease and disasters, and other charitable organizations because of the women who support us by becoming members.  We meet monthly on the first Tuesday of the month with coffee fellowship at 6:30pm and  meeting at 7:00pm.   Please contact us for additional information.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. ISMINI ARGES! A beloved Saint Demetrios parishioner and Philoptochos board member, Ismini was chosen as the Metropolis of Chicago 2016 AGAPE AWARD recipient and was honored at this year’s National Clergy-Laity and Philoptochos Convention in Nashville TN. The prestigious award was presented to Mrs. Arges July 6, 2016 by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America. The national award, given to only nine women from across the country at the biennial convention, recognizes exceptional commitment and tireless dedication to the mission of Philoptochos within and beyond the parish community.

“... if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (1 Corinthians 12:2)
